Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup crispy fried onion strings
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: pickles or coleslaw

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  2. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  3. Pour the barbecue sauce over the top, coating the meat evenly.
  4. Cook on low heat for about 480 minutes, or until the pork becomes tender.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns in a warm oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  7. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Scoop a generous helping of the pulled pork onto each bun.
  9. Add crispy fried onion strings on top.
  10. Assemble the sandwich and serve immediately.

Notes

Prepare the pulled pork a day in advance for even richer flavors. Can be made in the oven as well.
