- 2 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup crispy fried onion strings
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: pickles or coleslaw
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
- Pour the barbecue sauce over the top, coating the meat evenly.
- Cook on low heat for about 480 minutes, or until the pork becomes tender.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Toast the hamburger buns in a warm oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
- Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
- Scoop a generous helping of the pulled pork onto each bun.
- Add crispy fried onion strings on top.
- Assemble the sandwich and serve immediately.
Notes
Prepare the pulled pork a day in advance for even richer flavors. Can be made in the oven as well.
