Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Brown the sliced chicken sausage for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Stir in orzo pasta and Italian seasoning. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for approximately 10 minutes.
  7. Fold in broccoli florets, cover, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, then stir in Parmesan cheese.
