Description

Delightful cinnamon rolls infused with chocolate and vibrant blue swirls, creating a visually stunning and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for icing)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for icing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for icing)
  • 23 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies (for topping)
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Stir in sugar, egg, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add 2 cups of flour and salt, mixing until combined. Add more flour until you have a soft, sticky dough. Knead in blue food coloring until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix until creamy and fold in crushed cookies and mini chocolate chips.
  3. Once dough has risen, punch it down gently, roll it out into a 14×9-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, roll tightly, and slice into 12 rolls.
  4. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. For icing, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until velvety.
  6. Drizzle icing over warm rolls, sprinkle with crushed cookies and mini chocolate chips. Serve immediately.

Notes

Make ahead: Prepare rolls the night before and refrigerate before baking. Can be stored at room temperature for 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
