- 4 Medium Zucchinis, Sliced
- 1 lb Ground Meat (Beef, Turkey, or Chicken)
- 2 Cups Marinara Sauce
- 2 Cups Shredded Cheese (Mozzarella or a Blend)
- 1 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
- Optional Toppings: Pepperoni, Bell Peppers, Onions, or Olives
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- In a large baking dish, arrange half of the sliced zucchini at the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked ground meat over the zucchini.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce over the meat.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese over the marinara.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining zucchini, meat, marinara, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the casserole ahead of time and refrigerate it. Consider using an air fryer for a crispy finish.
