Description

A comforting casserole featuring layers of zucchini, ground meat, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese, perfect for satisfying pizza cravings without the guilt.


Ingredients

  • 4 Medium Zucchinis, Sliced
  • 1 lb Ground Meat (Beef, Turkey, or Chicken)
  • 2 Cups Marinara Sauce
  • 2 Cups Shredded Cheese (Mozzarella or a Blend)
  • 1 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • Optional Toppings: Pepperoni, Bell Peppers, Onions, or Olives

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large baking dish, arrange half of the sliced zucchini at the bottom.
  4. Spread half of the cooked ground meat over the zucchini.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce over the meat.
  6. Sprinkle half of the cheese over the marinara.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining zucchini, meat, marinara, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
  8. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  11. Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can prepare the casserole ahead of time and refrigerate it. Consider using an air fryer for a crispy finish.
