Description

Delicious sausage rolls filled with savory pork, caramelized onions, and melty cheese, all wrapped in flaky pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) pork mince (ground pork)
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix (or 1 cup sautéed onions + 1 tsp onion powder)
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Cheese (cheddar, mozzarella)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, parsley)
  • Chili flakes, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine pork mince, French onion soup mix, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface and slice them in half lengthwise. Place a portion of the filling along one edge and roll up the pastry, sealing with water or egg wash.
  4. Beat the egg and milk together, then brush the mixture over the tops of the rolls.
  5. Place the rolls on the prepared tray and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with different types of cheese or spices. Feel free to prepare the filling in advance to save time.
