Description

A gourmet twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich featuring creamy avocado, fresh mozzarella, and juicy tomatoes.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of sourdough or whole grain bread
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced or mashed
  • 1 fresh tomato, sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh basil leaves, balsamic glaze

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread generously or brush lightly with olive oil.
  2. Lay one slice of bread down, unbuttered side facing up, and spread a layer of ripe avocado evenly.
  3. Place mozzarella cheese on top of the avocado, followed by a careful arrangement of tomato slices.
  4. Season the layers lightly with salt and pepper. Optionally, sprinkle fresh basil leaves or drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  5. Cap it off with the second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered side is facing outward.
  6. Heat your skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in, allowing it to grill beautifully.
  7. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, using a spatula to press down gently.
  8. Remove from heat, let it rest briefly, slice, and indulge.
