- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Pasta of choice, cooked
Instructions
- Heat a generous splash of olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened.
- Introduce the ground beef to the skillet. Brown fully.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes along with tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Turn the heat low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes.
- Once thick and luscious, ladle it over your favorite cooked pasta. Serve with Parmesan cheese.
Notes
For a richer flavor, blend in ground pork or add a splash of red wine. Make ahead for even better taste.
