Description

Sweet and creamy Candied Yams, infused with warm spices and brown sugar, creating a comforting side dish perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into round slices about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Melt the unsalted butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  4. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt; stir until well combined.
  5. Gently coat the sweet potato slices in the syrup mixture.
  6. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the yams earlier in the day. Assemble them and keep covered in the fridge until ready to bake.
