Description

A decadent bundt cake that combines rich chocolate with zesty orange for a memorable dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup chocolate glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the bundt pan generously with butter or a non-stick spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Toss in the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  6. Gently fold in the orange zest and fresh orange juice.
  7. Pour the thick batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth out the top.
  8. Bake for about 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the thickest part comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, drizzle with the chocolate glaze and let it set before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. Make-ahead tip: Bake a day in advance for better flavor.
