Description

A luxurious and comforting casserole dish made with flaky croissants, rich custard, and vibrant mixed berries, perfect for gourmet brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 medium croissants (day old is best)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup cream (or half-and-half)
  • 3 cups mixed berries
  • Pure maple syrup and mixed berries for serving
  • Butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare your casserole dish by spraying it with baking spray.
  3. Combine the eggs, maple syrup, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl and whisk until smooth.
  4. Add milk and cream into the mixture while whisking to blend.
  5. Slice the croissants in half and layer them in the baking dish, alternating with mixed berries.
  6. Pour the custard mixture over the layered croissants and berries.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and chill overnight in the fridge.
  8. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown and set.

Notes

Using day-old croissants enhances texture. Consider mixing in chocolate chips or nuts for variation.
