- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 3 large eggs
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your 9×13 inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
- Combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, water, and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth and free of lumps.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, spreading it evenly but not to the edges.
- Sprinkle the chopped strawberries and chocolate chips evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Seal in the filling by pouring the remaining cake batter over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let it cool before topping with whipped cream.
Notes
Try using fresh strawberries for the best flavor, but frozen strawberries can be used if thawed and drained.
