Description

A delightful coffee cake with a moist, buttery base and a rich streusel topping, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
  2. Cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla, mixing until just combined.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  5. Prepare the streusel by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts in a small bowl.
  6. Layer half the batter in the pan, sprinkle half the streusel, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the streusel.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool slightly before serving warm, ideally with coffee.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to three days. Freeze slices for up to three months.
